OKTOWN has become a partner of the Museum Education experience exchange program in the Tourism section
On September 20-24, the Museum-Ed educational exchange program for museum professionals was launched by the Museum of the Formation of the Ukrainian Nation with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, and the Center for Continuing Cultural and Artistic Education of the National Academy of Arts and Crafts.
The program is an impetus for professional development and skill improvement, focusing on modern areas of work in the museum sector, inter-institutional cooperation in the sectors of culture and creative industries, tourism, sponsorship, etc. and consists of theoretical and practical components. In particular, it includes management work, work with sponsors, tourism, marketing, etc.
In addition to theoretical and practical skills, the participants had the opportunity to improve their communication skills over the course of 5 days, which included establishing connections and cooperation and building an interregional dialogue between project participants.
On September 21, the second day of the Tourism section of the Museum Education experience exchange program took place. Representatives of our team (Olena Kasyan, CEO of OK TOWN , and Victoria Godik, Partnership Development Manager) made a presentation: "OKTOWN.com.ua - a new innovative tool for promoting museums and local tourism."
Olena Kasyan, the founder of the OKTOWN marketplace, an optimized platform for the development of tourism infrastructure even in small towns, told how the idea for the project came about and about it:
- "The main problem in Ukraine is the underdeveloped infrastructure and demand for local tourism and museum activities.
We have created interactive and regular tours where you can publish your excursions, and for the next six months for free. With the OK TOWN mobile app, everyone can organize their own leisure time and have fun in every city of Ukraine.
Olena also answered questions from museum representatives, told them how to register on the site and about her plans for the future.
Victoria, who develops partnerships, spoke about OKTOWN for Businesses. It was interesting to hear about interactive and audio tours.
The participants discussed and shared their experience in such areas as management work and prospects for its development. They discussed the problems and ways to solve them, cooperation and development of communication between the museum and tourism sectors, issues that are relevant in the museum sector, namely the lack of necessary knowledge and practical skills of museum workers for the development of museum business in Ukraine. After the lecture and discussion, the results were summed up and the participants of the Museum Education experience exchange program were awarded.
The participation of OKTOWN representatives also resulted in a partnership agreement with the Museum of the Formation of the Ukrainian Nation, a modern innovative museum that positions itself as a brand and has its own storytelling (national project).
