Sumy students' startup is among the best at the All-Ukrainian competition
The team of Sumy State University with the startup OK-TOWN took third place in the All-Ukrainian Student Startup Competition from the YEP business incubator network.
More than 120 teams from all over Ukraine registered at the start and the first bootcamps in January, 56 teams took part in the semifinals, and finally 10 teams reached the final pitch of the national student startup competition.
At the final pitch, which took place in February 2021, the Sumy State University team was represented by Olena Kasyan, a graduate of the Master's program in Public Administration and Management (startup initiator) and Artem Rudychenko, a third-year student majoring in Accounting and Taxation. The mentors of the winning team are Oleksandr Kubatko, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics, Entrepreneurship and Business Administration, and Serhii Solodovnikov, Chairman of the Scientific Society of Students (trainees), Postgraduates, Doctoral Students and Young Scientists (SSSYS) of Sumy State University.
"OK, TOWN!" is an optimized marketplace, an e-commerce platform for providing services and information in the field of tourism, excursions and recreation, which was initially based in Sumy. The goal of the product is to gather all small and large enterprises in the field of local tourism and connect them into one network to generate order traffic from future customers.
The All-Ukrainian competition of student startups from the YEP network of business incubators, which started at the end of December last year, was held as part of the All-Ukrainian initiative "Entrepreneurial University." It is implemented by the YEP network of startup incubators in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Startup Fund, with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy of Ukraine Program.
