FREE TRAVEL WITH UZ: HOW TO GET TICKETS AND WHAT ROUTES ARE AVAILABLE?

"3000 km of Ukraine" is a new support program for citizens that allows them to receive tickets for 4 free train trips (the total length of these trips should not exceed 3000 km). The first stage of this initiative started on December 3, and you can start traveling on December 5. In December, the program will run in test mode on trains to all frontline regions. This will allow families to visit loved ones near the front line or residents of frontline communities to move to other regions for the winter. The distance of 3000 km symbolically represents the distance by rail from Zaporizhzhia to Uzhhorod and back - the longest train route in Ukraine today.

The program will make it possible to use these kilometers during off-peak periods when there are free seats. Ukrzaliznytsia will offer them in reserved seats, compartments, regional trains, and Intercity class 2. You will be able to get up to four trips for a total of 3000 km, and you can start traveling on Friday, December 5.

How to get free tickets?

1. Download or update the Ukrzaliznytsia app. Your account must be verified using Diia.Signature.

2. Find the "3000" mark and click "Participate" - and you will receive 3000 km that can be used for 4 trips.

3. Choose the train marked "3000". When booking, the kilometers will be used - they will be automatically deducted from the bonus account.

Important conditions of participation

1. You can issue a ticket only for yourself and your child. It is not possible to issue a ticket for adult relatives or friends (the functionality will be further developed).

2. Children from 5 years old also receive their own 3000 km. To do this, they must be added to your account in Diia (attach the child's birth certificate).

3. Under the program, seats are available in reserved seats, compartments, regional trains and 2nd class Intercity.

4. The program covers only the cost of travel. Bed, tea, transportation of animals, luggage and other additional services are paid separately.

5. Kilometers cannot be monetized, they are valid only for travel.

6. 3000 km are not required to be used in December 2025 - Ukrzaliznytsia will offer the largest number of seats primarily in the low season (January, February, October, November).

7. The unused balance of 3000 km in Ukraine will be converted into bonus "hugs" in the loyalty program of Ukrzaliznytsia "Iron Friends". This functionality will be available in the UZ app in 2026.

The flights for the pilot phase were selected after analyzing the available seats on trains and with a focus on supporting residents of the frontline areas. In the future, during the off-peak season, Ukrzaliznytsia will offer about 250,000 seats per month to encourage travel by those Ukrainians who value affordable prices over travel time, and to relieve the peak season.
