WINTER TOURISM IN UKRAINE: VACATION IN BUKOVEL 2025/2026

Bukovel is the most popular ski resort in Ukraine and one of the largest in Eastern Europe. It is located in the picturesque Carpathians, near the village of Polianytsia in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The resort is open all year round, but it is the winter vacation in Bukovel that attracts tourists the most. This article contains all the possible winter activities, trails, seasonal features, and useful tips.

Ski slopes

The winter season in the Ukrainian Carpathians lasts on average from December to April (it all depends on weather conditions). Skiing or snowboarding is the main type of leisure in Bukovel. This resort is a great option for both beginners and more professional athletes. There are more than 60 kilometers of groomed and lighted trails of varying difficulty - from easy to difficult and extreme. All the slopes are located on three peaks: Bukovel (1127 meters), Chorna Kleva (1241 meters) and Dovha (1372 meters). The ski season is always in full swing thanks to 100% artificial snow, so you can enjoy skiing regardless of natural precipitation. And for those who don't know how but want to learn, there are private instructors and schools for beginners. If you wish, you can also rent clothes and equipment.

Winter activities in Bukovel, besides skiing

Bukovel is not just about the slopes. The resort offers dozens of activities for adults and children.

Luge track. A kilometer-long illuminated slope for sledding. Important: only rented sleds can be used.

Rodelbahn (toboggan run with twists and turns). The length is 1500 meters. You control the speed yourself, which makes the entertainment safe and exciting.

Zipline. The 1130-meter-long high-speed descent is one of the 10 longest in Europe and the longest in Ukraine.

Tubing. A short but very exciting descent of 65 meters. Designed for adults and children from 3 years old.

Rollercoaster. This is a zipline suspended on ropes between trees, with ascents, descents and steep turns. The total length of the route is more than 500 meters.

Skating rink. The only open-air skating rink in the Carpathians.All conditions are created for comfortable skating, beginners can take support racks in the form of funny animals and ask for help from an instructor.

Water park and SPAcenters. Bukovel has a lot of options for relaxing after an active vacation. There are separate establishments (VODA-club, Mavka water park, etc.) and many small centers that operate at hotels.

Family and relaxing vacation in Bukovel

For those who don't like speed and extreme sports, Bukovel can also offer entertainment. For example, take a ride on the largest Ferris wheel in Ukraine, which is 45 meters high. Panoramic cabins allow you to enjoy 360° views.

Tourists who love animals can visit the Husky House. The four-legged friends of the Siberian Husky breed will gladly talk and take pictures with guests.

Even more exotic, wild animals and birds can be seen and even fed in the petting zoo on the territory of the Hutsul Land Ethnopark. In general, this complex combines various areas for recreation and entertainment. The ethnopark has unique monuments of folk wooden architecture of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, which were carefully dismantled and transported from the most remote mountainous corners of the Ukrainian Carpathians. There is also a space for creative workshops, an art gallery, photo zones, and a lot of other interesting things.

Gastronomy in Bukovel

The resort has restaurants serving Ukrainian, Asian, and European cuisine. You can taste Hutsul dishes, warm up with hot mulled wine or coffee, or try signature cocktails.
